Chelsea 2-1 win in Injury Time
Earlier before the game, Scolari had admitted that Stoke city is a more dangerous team than all the teams in England. Within the first minute of play, the visitors were fulfilling Scolaris warning with Delaps long throw cleared away by Carvalho. As the game continued, the Blues were denied of goals by Thomas Sorensens great saves. The potters celebrated the first goal from Rory Delap who held off a challenge by Cole and expertly chipped the ball into the net of Petr Cech in the first half. The Blues plan to lay siege on the Potters to no avail. This was evident in the 22nd minutes of the first half when Lampard floated in a free-kick that Solomom Kalou side footed over the bar in the six-yard box and in the 65th minute of the second half when Lampard again sent a shot to the far right side of the post. With the match seemingly slipping away from the Blues, an equalizer came chelseas way from the combination of Di Santo and Belletti. Barely three minutes to the end of the game, Juliano Belletti headed in a cross from Di Santo at the side of the post and deep into the end of injury time, Frank Lampard delivered the winning goal with an impacting shot from an Anelkas pass.
Scolari opted for youngsters Miroslav Stoch and Franco Di Santo for the 2-1 comeback win over Stoke, insisting they offered him more than the Ivorian.
“It was my choice not to have Drogba,” said Scolari.
“I don’t have anything against Drogba. I am the coach, it was my choice and today two young kids offered me more.”
The 29-year-old, signed from Marseille for £24m in July 2004, has been linked with a move to Inter Milan, coached by former Blues boss Jose Mourinho.
Chelsea have consistently said Drogba will not be sold, but Scolari suggested on Saturday that he could leave Stamford Bridge if an offer was big enough.
