Gunners guy down Chelsea

Robin van Persie struck twice in three second-half minutes to get Arsenal FC back into the English Premier League title race with a quickfire double that stunned leaders Chelsea FC in a 2-1 away win at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. An own goal from Johan Djourou gave Chelsea  FC 1-0 half-time lead, only for the match to be turned around with two goals in as many minutes after the restart.

But Netherlands striker Van Persie, making his 100th start for the Gunners, equalised with a controversial goal in the 59th minute and stunned the hosts with a second goal three minutes later. He looked well offside when he drilled home the equaliser after 59 minutes, then was on target again on the turn to complete a remarkable turnaround in fortunes.

Arsenal FC is turning into the Premier League’s great enigmas, responding with victories against Manchester United FC and now Chelsea FC just when it was being written off as serious title contender. Arsenal FC boss, Wenger celebrated with his staff at the final whistle, an indication of just how important he feels this victory can be while Chelsea’s fans, in contrast, greeted the final whistle with jeers.

Chelsea FC, who had not been beaten at home in the league for 86 games before their 1-0 defeat to Liverpool FC on October 26, have now lost two of their last four Premier League ties at Stamford Bridge.
