Premiership clubs launched bid for Peter Osaze Odemwingie

Tottenham Hotspurs, Newcastle and West Ham have joined the race to sign Nigeria’s winger, Peter Osaze Odemwingie next month. Even as Everton have yet to make their interest known to the management of Lokomotiv Moscow on the Nigerian player, three other Premiership clubs are jostling to grab Odemwingie. Chris Nathaniel, Odemwingie’s agent, said: “Lokomotiv are keen to sell but talks are still ongoing.” Odemwingie has also been linked with Tottenham, Newcastle and West Ham. But Odemwingie was reported to have developed more interest in Emirates giants, Arsenal.

Lokomotiv had scotched reports linking Everton with a loan swoop for the Nigeria international. The Russian outfit have moved quickly to quell speculation that the 27-year-old could be set for a move to Goodison Park in the January transfer window after the player’s agent claimed boss David Moyes had started talks about a potential loan deal. Lokomotiv’s president, Nikolai Naumov says there have been no talks with the Toffees and they would not be willing to loan out Odemwingie, who was the club’s top scorer in the Russian Premier League last season with 10 goals.

“No formal proposals, no,” Naumov told Sovetsky Sport. “Not for Odemwingie or any other player. “Calls from agents, we do not even talk to them. We just ask the club to send in a letter if someone wants to start negotiations. “With regard to Odemwingie, then a loan is out of the question. A player who does not get in the team, perhaps, but leading players we can only sell and only then if it is a worthy proposal.”
